“Time is Relentless”, is a theme that resonates throughout my creative journey. As I get older the value of time increases.
In high school, I learned that time was a definable entity. It may be invisible, but once compartmentalized, it could be studied, analyzed, and maybe one day manipulated. As an adolescent, it was a huge revolution when I learned that light “travels”. Realizing that when we look up into the sky we’re looking into the past because each light source takes time to reach us. The stars we see may not even be there in the present because we’re seeing them as they existed millions of years ago. Does that mean that even the present is an illusion? If it takes a fraction of a second for the light of every object to reach our eyes then everything we see is a fraction of a second in the past.
We’re forever imprisoned by the arrow of time. At least photography allows us the gift to stop time for a split second.
