Photographers follow a set of rules. The Golden Ratio, Rule of Thirds, Framing, etc. But sometimes rules are made to be broken. Opinions on angles, posing, and lighting, can be subject to personal preference, even in the presence of rules. It’s a balance of art and science. Science is deterministic and strives to approach the truth. Art is completely open to creative freedom. Beauty is subjective to the photographer trying to capture it.
Where’s the balance? Rules set by artists or photographers won’t necessarily create a great image. Likewise, complete artistic freedom won’t appeal to everyone. There are no guarantees. I look at it this way: Science is in the camera I hold in my hand. It serves to outline the lowest common denominator of what is possible. We play with ISO, shutter speed, depth of field, and aperture settings and attempt to align our personal microcosm of planets. After that, we transition to art, and she has no boundaries. We need to allow ourselves to be vulnerable. To explore the unknown and think outside the box. We need to be willing to fail many times before creating magic.
We need to be willing to fail many times before creating magic.
I love this beautiful balance in photography. We follow a set of rules to increase our chances of capturing a great photograph while realizing that all those rules can be broken once we’ve mastered them. There are an infinite number of possibilities. We just need the courage to take the journey.
Dusil Photography captures exquisite moments with models who dare to be vulnerable and enter the world of sensuality. I’ve been blessed with the freedom to explore their deepest emotions. Whether it’s alluring curves or a seductive gaze, each photograph tells her story. My portfolio reflects a seamless fusion of feminine beauty and compassion.
